Placing a Call

The lab assumes that all that all the setup steps are completed. The mobile station's built-in browser is used for the demonstration.

Call Setup

  1. Make sure the E5515C is configured for SO33 and is set to use the External PDSN.
  2. Power up the phone and allow it to obtain service and register on the E5515C.
  3. Start a mobile originated SO33 call using the phone's Web browser key.
  4. The unit may fail to connect due to the home page setup.   The general Network Busy indication may appear on the screen.  The following steps are necessary to modify the home page:
  5. With the phone in the browser error state, Retry and Cancel options are displayed
  6. Select Cancel
  7. Select Cancel again
  8. The web browser options menu should appear
  9. Scroll down to Preferences and select OK
  10. Select item 1 - Edit Home Page
  11. Select Edit and enter  http://simulator_address/mobipdemo.htm as the home page.  (Replace simulator_address with the value previously set by the MOB-IP-SIM Manager.)
  12. Select OK when complete
  13. Hit the red END key to completely exit the browser menu
  14. Reattempt the call
  15. The phone should indicate connecting and then should display the home page of the simulator similar to the following. The links can be used to demonstrate screen saver and ring tone downloads.



  16. End the browser session by pressing the phone's End key
  17. Verify that the call releases within a few seconds
