The previous figure shows the typical interconnection required for the MIP-5850 to be used with the Agilent E5515C. The MIP-5850, the Agilent E5515C, and a PC are all connected to an Ethernet for normal operation. The Ethernet may be connected to a larger LAN or the public Internet if desired.

During setup, the PC is connected to the serial port in order to configure the MIP-5850's network parameters; this link may be disconnected for normal operation.
